Some of my favorite titles this week! Let’s see what I got!
AVX Versus #4 (Marvel) 4 out of 5 (DAAAAANG!)
Match 1 is ok with Daredevil and Psylocke, but the real bread and butter of this issue is Thor versus the Phoenix powered White Queen! A lot of great moments! I was enthralled the whole time!
Batman and Robin #11 (DC) 4 out of 5 (Pow Sock Bam!)
I’m really loving the war of the Robins aspect they’re addressing! Damien takes on Red Hood at the beginning of this one, and isn’t afraid to bring up the past! It’s a very solid, interesting story arc they’re building all around, and I can’t wait to see how it ends! Plus, come on, Tomasi and Gleason! One of the best duos in DC!
Dark Avengers (Thunderbolts) #177 (Marvel) 3.5 out of 5 (Entertaining as Always)
I love this book. It’s fun, the art is great, and the story is constantly developing in ways I didn’t see coming!
***********Punk Rock Jesus #1 of 6 (Vertigo) 5 out of 5 (Shut the #@$! Up…)**************
My mind is blown. Sean Murphy is amazing! His art is great, although I was a little sad to open it and see black and white pages. The story? Nuts. Hey, let’s clone Jesus, through in a reality show about it, and a nutso IRA bred Punisher type guy! READ THIS BOOK. You might not like, but you’ll get your money’s worth either way for this $2.99 first issue!
Spider-Men #3 of 4(Marvel) 4.5 out of 5 (THIS IS NUTS!)
I praise the heck out of this book if you’ve been following my list here, and this book continues to prove why! Amazing Art! Spectacular storytelling! Sensational moments! Web of… Oh nevermind, just read the book already!
Ultimate X-Men #14 (Marvel Ultimate) 4 out of 5 (Oh Man!)
This book is taking a more and more serious tone, and getting pretty epic! I’m saying it alot, I know, but with Ultimate anything can happen. This book is leading into the ‘Divided We Fall’ Ultimate Event, and I just am not sure if it’s going to be a good thing or a bad thing for the mutant populace of the Ultimate Universe!
Uncanny X-Force #27 (Marvel) 4 out of 5 (This Book is Crazy Yo!)
Everytime I feel like this book is starting to coast on it’s name, I start to see some of the pieces of the big story they’re telling come together. This is an issue where that happens! Really interesting moves by Rick Remender that are probably going to result in an over all mind blowing story arc!
Sorry, I know I said I’d try for less Marvel stuff this week, but this is what the release schedule gave me. BUT I did give the gem of a find in Punk Rock Jesus #1!!! You’re Welcome.
