For the Teen and up readers Blackhole Universe will travel around our world of heroes and villains! The first issue starts with the origin story of a major Blackhole villain; Cynical. The second story stars The Brick as he fights off the Five Headed Dragon Clan to protect his greatest secret!
In a lighter, all ages book, Quinn-Finity pairs unstoppable imagination with unlimited power in her first issue. The story titled “Universal Razzle Dazzle Dragon Boogers” pits Quinn against some booger stealing Punk-bots! She’ll have to become heroes like Razzle Dazzle, Popcorn Kid, and even Dragon Girl to stop them!
We’ll continue to release our books digitally as well as in print moving forward, so if we aren’t in a shop nearby, you can still get your fix! Go catch up on these titles today!
It takes a while to get these issues done with the budget restraints we’re on, but we’re hoping with the moves we’ve made this year, that will get better. In the meantime, to all our patient fans out there, Thank You, and we want you to know we’re working. We have both Quinn-Finity #2 and Proton #2 in the Que right now! They will release this year, Quinn-Finity #2 this summer, and Proton #2 not too far behind it in late summer/early fall. Both Ruben and Brian are grinding out the art, and the quality of these books is top notch in my opinion!
As “proof of life” I thought it would be pretty cool to let loose some preview art from the #2’s in the works, so check these out!
We’re really excited about all the projects we’re planning on getting out this year, and we’re pushing to get them out as soon as possible, so stay tuned! Until then remember; The World is Ours to Make!
Its been a crazy road so far in the last 3 years for us here at Blackhole Comics! We’ve gone from printing a handful ashcans at Office Max to printing full sized issues in much larger print runs, we’ve got our books in multiple comic shops, and we’ve gone from selling nothing at conventions to breaking even! We’ve found some amazing artists to work with like Daniel Govar, Ruben Rojas, Brian Middleton, Luca Cicognola, Anderson Carman, Kieth Silverman, Antonio Crew, JJ Murphy, Chauncey Blakey, and John Johnston! I also like to think we found a little bit more about ourselves as well…
Our tone and our style isn’t the same as Marvel or DC, we aren’t as gritty as Image or Vertigo, we aren’t as dark or as adult as some of the other guys out there, and that’s ok. It’s not to say those sort of stories aren’t enjoyable, or even that they aren’t in our future, I think what it says is we’re focusing on light hearted superhero comics. I think that with the dark overtones in a lot of the superhero stuff out there right now, that’s a good thing.
We know that our target audience isn’t necessarily the guy that picks up 20 books a week at the comic shop, but maybe he’ll like it too, and add it to his list. We’re maybe better suited to some of the younger kids that want to get into reading comics, and need something of their own, something their generation can grow with. It’s good to know who your audience is, and I think we’re starting to figure that out. As we near completion of our 3rd different title, Quinn-Finity, we still have so many characters and so much story to tell, we can only hope you’ll be patient with us as we do our best to grind it all out!!!
Being a small local self publisher, we’re doing our best with the resources we have. We’ve come a long way, and plan to go even farther! We hope you’ll stick along for the ride. 😉 Until then though, I hope you’ll enjoy this teaser poster of things to come by Ruben Rojas! Follow us on twitter @BlackholeComics to get more info on the characters!
And of course remember… The World is Ours to Make!

I’m excited to announce that Proton #1 will be available Wednesday May 25th at Richmond Comix! This is really big for Blackhole Comics as it picks up where Proton #0 left off, and brings us to the story we were out to tell the whole time. If you weren’t lucky enough to get your hands on a copy of Proton #0, you can purchase the digital copy for just 99 cents below!
Written by Nick Flair and stellar art provided by Ruben Rojas, we pick up after the events of the zero issue. The dynamic of an entire star system has suddenly and drastically changed, and at the heart of it is where our story begins with two lives that were changed more than any others. Two young men claim to be the son of Proton. Is it possible? Are they both who they say they are? Will they be able to co-exist if so? Most importantly, will either of them be able to fill the role of being the star system’s greatest hero? We start to find out in this issue! Head to Richmond Comix on Wednesday May 25th and get your copy!!!
Here is a look at Covers A & B by Ruben Rojas and John Johnston respectively, the Richmond Comix EXCLUSIVE variant by Brian Middleton, and some great pages by Ruben!
The foundation of Blackhole Comics, is being laid down as we speak. We started in 2015 With Proton #0, and continued with Blackhole Universe #1. Now we begin 2016 with Proton #1!
If you were part of our Kickstarter Campaign, our launch at Richmond Comix, or came by our table at Heroes Con then you had the opportunity to start with Proton #0. If you didn’t, copies are still available at Velocity Comics in Richmond, B&D Comics in Roanoke, and here Digitally! In that milestone issue, we met Jo-Than and his home planet of Vellia. We learned that he was part of a bloodline destined in each generation to assume the mantle of Proton, and become the Cluster System’s greatest hero!
We also witnessed a great battle between Proton, and his rival Negaton that would have everlasting consequences. Now we pick up shortly after that story left off. There are new players in the game. new heroes, and new villains. In Proton #1 we get a larger taste of the planet Vellia, its culture, and the Proton lineage!
Here is a sneak peek at the process from pencils to final inks by the awesome Ruben Rojas!
Ruben and I are really excited to get this book out, and you should be too! We’re shooting for a late April/early May release, keep posted here for updates to make sure we’re on track! Also, if you want to pre-order a copy you can go to Richmond Comix, Velocity Comics, and B&D Comics to order it! If you aren’t near those shops, ask your shop to get in touch with us and order our titles!
We plan on having an amazing year here at Blackhole Comics as we continue to grow, so keep sending your support, and keep coming back here to see all the great things we have coming!
Blackhole Comics got 2015 started with a super successful Kickstarter campaign that allowed Proton #0 to see the light of day. Now as 2016 kicks off, I’m proud to say Proton #1 will be our premiere story!
For those who weren’t able to get a copy of the zero issue, it introduced us to Jo-Than, the most recent of his bloodline to carry the mantle of Proton! Each generation his family gives birth to a single male heir that one day becomes the protector, not just of their home planet Vellia, but of the entire Cluster system and all 32 planets that revolve around their twin stars.
He faced a deadly armada set to invade and destroy his home world led by his greatest enemy, Negaton. Proton fought with all his strength, and in the end his planet and the entire Cluster System will never be the same again.
Proton #1 will pick up after the key events of the zero issue, and will further open and explore the world we only got a small taste of. The heroes, villains, and fantastic environments in the world of Proton will be brought to you by the incredible art of Ruben Rojas! If you haven’t seen his stuff yet, you’re missing out! He was recently first showcased in Blackhole Universe #1 taking on both Cover duties , and the Cynical story inside!
This is the start to a big year for us here at Blackhole Comics, as we have more books slated to release than ever before! Proton will be one of the cornerstone’s as we hope to have 3 issues release in addition to our other titles! Cynical will also return in the pages of Blackhole Universe #2, as well as his rival Guardian, and other new characters as well! We hope this ad by Ruben for Proton #1 gets you guys as stoked as we are for 2016, and the chance to explore more of the Blackhole Universe!!!
Thanks for the Support out there, and remember; The World is Ours to Make!!!
